Dao medicine practitioner (DMP) Yijia Chen fights against Covid-19 pandemic in Wuhan
During the Chinese New Year holiday period in 2020 (year of the Rat—Gengzi), I learned about the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan from news on the internet. There are many videos and articles online that due to a large number of patients queuing overnight for inpatient treatments in fever clinics in hospitals in Wuhan, hospital beds quickly reached capacity. Hospital beds were scarce, and hospitals in Wuhan had to request assistance from the medical community from across the country.
Helping those in need is a traditional virtue of the Chinese people. This human-to-human transmission of coronavirus continues to spread, and not disappointing my shifu’s expectations I naturally wanted to go to Wuhan to do my best to save people’s lives.
At 0.00 on January 23, government imposed a lockdown in Wuhan. I tried to find ways to provide help, I also called up my disciples to help me find an avenue to participate in the medical aid team. I appreciated to Dr. Xu Meihua, a disciple from Hong Kong, who recommended me to a medical aid team of traditional Chinese medicine Charity of Wuhan No 7 Hospital. Mrs Dai the general manager sent me a “call order” with an official invitation from the Wuchang District OrganizationDepartment.

Mrs. Dai invited me to the group chat “Volunteers’ Medical Skills Evaluation and Selection ". Upon request I submitted the application form, a copy of my ID card and my qualification certificate to register as a volunteering doctor, as well as relevant documents to prove I’m qualified to enter the affected area. I provided two related medical cases in videos as supporting materials to the group.
I treated two patients using non-invasive Dao medicine Qigong during the period “to prove the Dao by healing treatment” in 2007:
[1] "Congenital cerebral palsy", the boy was 3 years old, and was not able to walk or speak;
[2] "Late-stage of brain tumor", the girl was 16 years old, her eyes were blind, and she was not able to walk normally.
Mrs Dai and the Chinese medical experts in the group decided to recruit me after reviewing the videos. They sent me an official invitation letter of front-line TCM expert to combat coronavirus in Wuhan.

One fundamental difference between those practices is that Nei-Dan practitioner draws Qi from the area between their eyebrows and from the top of their head; while Wai-Dan practitioner breathes in the Qi in the air from their nose and mouth, to balance the Yin and Yang Qi in their body.
The person practicing those exercises cultivate and nourish both inner and outer aspects of themselves. Regardless of Nei-Dan Gong or Wai-Dan Qi Gong, both type of Qi Gong when attained to a high level can enable that person to emit Dao Qi to expel the negative elements and energy of sickness on the patient’s body, therefore clear up and unblock the meridian channels (Jing Luo). Herbal and food medicine are also used to assist the patients to return to a state of health.
WenDi Chen, my son, is practicing Taichi Quan, an external expression of Dao Neidan Gong. He also accomplished the ‘Chen Tai Chi Quan National Athletic Achievement Award’. WenDi started Taichi at the age of 7, then began his Dao meditation practice for Nei-Dan Qi Gong since 13 years old. In the video attached, you may see his foundation of Dao Nei-Dan Gong that has reflected on his style of Taichi Quan.
(Video of WenDi Chen performing Dao Taichi Quan is attached in the folder)
On 8th of February, 2020, I received a vehicle access permit from WuCang epidemic control centre, sent by Mr Dai, the person in charge of ‘Chinese Traditional Medicine Charity’ of the Wuhan 7th Hospital.

On 8th of February, 2020, I received a vehicle access permit from WuCang epidemic control centre, sent by Mr Dai, the person in charge of ‘Chinese Traditional Medicine Charity’ of the Wuhan 7th Hospital.
On February 9, my son and I went to several pharmacies and supermarkets in my home city to purchase medicines such as Chinese herbal medicines and medicinal dietary materials to take to the affected area for treatment of coronavirus patients.
Departing at 5am on February 10, my wife, my son and I drove for more than 10 hours into the epicentre of Wuhan. We felt desolate when we saw few vehicles driving towards Wuhan on the highway.
When we arrived in Wuhan, we were told by Mrs Dai on WeChat that volunteer doctors need to bring their own medical protective equipment to enter the ward, otherwise we will not be allowed to enter the ward to treat people with coronavirus infection. Therefore, I immediately asked the members of the “World Dao Medicine Naturopathy United Association” for support, almost all of them are overseas, and they are also my disciples.
Everyone was caring and they brainstormed and worked together to mobilize friends and relatives to buy medical equipment to support the epicentre. Despite the short supply of medical equipment on the market, my disciples were able to acquire and dispatch a considerable amount of key medical supplies to support our team within one single day.

Despite the short supply of medical equipment on the market, my disciples were able to acquire and dispatch a considerable amount of key medical supplies to support our team within one single day.
On February 13, I went to the ward and found that the main symptoms of most patients were fever, body ache, fatigue, shortness of breath, dry cough, and loss of appetite. Some patients had symptoms such as rhinobyon, runny nose, sore throat, and diarrhea. Severely infected patients showed symptoms such as dyspnea, chest tightness, palpitation, coughing phlegm and some bloody sputum and other symptoms after infected for three to seven days.
Applying the San Jiao syndrome differentiation and the six meridians syndrome differentiation, I used Dao Qigong as the main treatment, supplemented by herbal medicine (green wild herbs including dandelion, field sow thistle, mulberry leaf, white radish, etc.), to help patients clear their lungs, detoxify, dissolve phlegm, smooth Qi of middle Jiao, etc.
Since the coronavirus is very harmful to the lungs progresses quickly, the lung sputum obstructs the respiratory function of the lungs, resulting in aggravation of the disease. From autopsy, doctors confirmed that the small airway and alveoli of the patients were blocked by sputum. Oxygen could not enter at all. Oxygen inhalation could only be effective for patients with early stages of breathing difficulties as their lungs have not been completely blocked. Patients in the later stage are unable to inhale oxygen at all, and the ventilator will also spread the sputum to the lungs where there is no sputum, which will increase the production of sputum, in turn aggravates the condition.
The herbal diet that I put together was effective in improving patient conditions through removing phlegm, clearing lungs, anti-inflammatory, detoxification, supporting the healthy energy and eliminating the evil factor.

February 14th at 8:00 a.m., in the Doctors’ Office at the Ward Unit 6 in the Seventh Hospital, Dr. He, the medical team lead assigned 7 severe infected COVID-19 patients who were located at Beds 1, 2, 3, 11, 34、39 and 40, to our family medical team.
Following our medical plan, we adopted the method of traditional Daoist Qigong, expelling the pathogenic factors with “Pure Yang Qi”. First, we gave the energy treatment to the Bed-1 patient [male / 68 years old / 40 years of asthma].
Procedures to implement the Daoist Qigong energy treatment for COVID-19 patient:
Step 1. I point my sword finger at the patient’s acupoint Zigong, which is located on Directing Meridian, to give him the energy. This acupoint has the effect of dissipating heat and invigorating Qi. It has a remarkable therapeutic effect on COVID-19 patient’s coughing, shortness of breath, fullness of chest, chest pain, sore throat, vomiting, etc.
Step 2. I connect the energy of Dao Qi that has been existing between the universe and the earth. Out from my acupoint Laogong, I pour the energy into the patient through his acupoint Baihui, in order to replenish the “Pure Yang Qi” for him. The action was to enrich his upright Qi, and to improve his immune system, so as to achieve the effect of strengthening the vitality and eliminating the pathogenic factors.
Step 3. I point my sword finger at the patient’s acupoint Feishu on the back to give him the energy. This acupoint has the function of clearing Lung Meridian, regulating Lung Qi, improving respiratory function, increasing lung ventilation, and promoting the absorption of sputum from lungs. It has significant effects on treating coughing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, fatigue, breathing hard, palpitation, etc.
Step 4. I point my sword finger on patient’s back from top to down, to dredge his Bladder Meridian and San Jiao Meridian, because they are the pathway of human body’s Qi ascending and descending, and the passage of water metabolism. If Upper Jiao (heart and lungs) is blocked, Qi can’t diffuse and descend, and Heart fire will flare up. If Middle Jiao (spleen and stomach) is blocked, the function of Spleen and Stomach will be out of order, such as Spleen Qi not ascending, Stomach Qi not descending, and poor function of transformation and transportation. It leads to retention of food, and poor appetite, etc. If the Lower Jiao (liver and Kidney) is blocked, Qi will become stagnant, resulting in inhibited urination and defecation.
According to the symptom analysis of COVID-19 patents this time, the Bladder and San Jiao Meridian must be dredged to achieve the purpose of removing virus, dispelling pathogenic Qi, and making Qi and Blood flow smoothly.
Step 5. I pinch Fei acupoints on patient’s hands. This acupoint can boost cardiopulmonary functions. Meanwhile, teach the patient to master this method of pinching finger acupoints, and to stimulate the Fei acupoint more frequently. It helps dredge Heart Meridian and Lung Meridian, and improve cardiopulmonary functions. Then teach the patient on a method of respiration to expel pathogenic Qi and virus out of the lung and enhance lung capacity.
I told every patient to spread via WeChat the method of pinching Fei acupoint on the finger, so that more patients in Wuhan, who were infected by COVID-19, can be aware of this method, do self-treating and achieve self-healing, and repair the demage that the virus did to the body.
I applied the natural medical therapy of Daoist Qigong energy and treated 7 cases of severe COVID-19 patients non-invasively. The therapy for each patient lasts c.a. 6 min. (Note: There was live video recorded for the treatment on 27 cases of COVID-19 patients.)

In the morning of February 16th, our family medical team went to the ward. I used again Daoist Qigong and treated 20 COVID-19 patients (Beds 4~18, Bed 25~28, Bed 36 and Bed 37).
I spent c.a. 6 min this time for each patient using the energy treatment.

In the morning of February 23rd, I received a phone call from a leader of Wuhan Tongji Hospital, inviting me to rescue a critically infected COVID-19 patient in building B, Sino-French New Town Campus of Wuhan Tongji Hospital. The patient is the chief physician and professor of the hospital. He was being rescued in ICU for 12 days, and was still in a severe coma.
Our family medical team immediately rushed to the ward in building B of the hospital. I used the traditional Daoist Qigong to give an energy treatment to this critical COVID-19 patient, who had been in a severe coma under drug anesthesia. His respiration relied on catheterization in an artificial lung, and his blood supply was maintained with a cardiac pacemaker.
First, I gave him energy by pointing my acupoint Laogong to his Baihui, and injected “Pure Yang Qi” in order to dredge his middle meridian, replenish original Qi, and improve his cardiopulmonary function. Then I sealed his acupoint Lingqiao by means of Daoist method. And then I pointed my sword finger at his acupoints Renzhong and Shenmen to give him the energy. Next, I pointed at his acupoint Zigong, which is located on Conception Meridian, so as to clear stasis of Heart Meridian and Lung Meridian.
On March 4th, the patient’s wife sent me a message via WeChat, that his husband was no longer in danger, and she expressed her great gratitude!
